Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Scanlio ("the app"), available at scanlio.khaw.cc. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. The service
Scanlio lets you capture, crop, enhance and organise paper documents in your browser, run text recognition, create PDFs and optionally upload them to cloud services you connect. The app is provided free of charge and may change or be discontinued at any time.
2. Your content and responsibilities
- You own your documents. We claim no rights to them and do not receive them (see the Privacy Policy).
- You are responsible for what you scan and upload, and for having the right to copy it. Do not use the app for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights or privacy.
- Your scans live in your browser's storage, which the browser or device may clear (for example when storage is low, in private mode, or when you clear site data). Keep your own backups of anything important, for instance by uploading it or downloading the PDF.
- You are responsible for your cloud accounts and for any charges, quotas or terms that apply to them.
3. Third-party services
Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, OpenCV, Tesseract and Vercel are operated by others and subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, changes or conduct.
4. Accuracy
Edge detection, image filters and OCR are automated and can be wrong. Check scans and recognised text before relying on them, particularly for legal, financial or medical documents. A scanned copy made with the app may not be accepted as an official record by every authority.
5. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, reverse engineer it beyond what applicable law permits, or use it to scan content you are prohibited from copying.
6. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data will not be lost.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Scanlio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached or the service is withdrawn.
9. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the competent courts there.
